E Passport Nepal
E Passport is a modern version of normal passport which is embedded with an electronic chip that store the biometric information of the passport user.
Biometric information of the passport user includes – digital signature, 10 fingerprints, eye retina scans and digital photographs. Now in Nepal old passports are starting to replace by e passport.
How To Apply E Passport Online In Nepal?
There is a misunderstanding about e passports for Nepalese. Most of the people think e passport means “you can make your passport totally online” which is not true.
In reality – only 10% of the job was done online if you carefully understand this application process below and the other remaining 90% of the job was done by the Government Office of Nepal – where you may have to physically visit the Government Office 2 to 3 times.
Here we give you proper information (Info) and steps to make an e passport in Nepal without any mistakes and loss of your valuable time.
Info 01:-National Identity (NID) Number For E Passport

Info 02:-E Passport Online Form
The e passport online form was filled out either by yourself or an authorized government employee because here you have to share or put your personal and private information on the online form. Just follow the steps below to fill out the e passport online form.
Step 01–Visit The Website Of The ‘Department Of Passport Nepal’

Close the front notice if you found it on this website.
Step 02-Click On ‘Apply For E Passport’

Step 03-Next Window Pops Up And Again Click On ‘Apply For Passport’

After step 03 – you will find 4 types of e passport application form and you may choose an application based on your interest.
- Passport First Issuance
- Passport Renewal
- Passport Replacement (Lost/Stolen)
- Passport Replacement (Damaged)

Step 04–For New E Passport Select The ‘Passport First Issuance Option’

After step 04 – you will find 3 passport types.
- Ordinary 34 pages (Suitable as normal passport)
- Ordinary 66 pages (Suitable for travelers)
- Other Passport Types (Suitable for business person and abroad government projects)

Step 05–For Normal Passport Select ‘Ordinary 34 Pages’ And Proceed It

In Data Privacy Consent select ‘I Agree’.

Step 06–Book Your Appointment For E Passport

A) If you need an Urgent E Passport in Nepal – Then fill out the form as mentioned below.
- Appointment Country – Nepal
- Appointment Province – Bagmati
- Appointment District – Kathmandu
- Appointment Location – Department Of Passports
- Select a Date and Time as your choice.
- Fill the character from the picture.
- After you fill all necessary information then select Next.

B) If you need an E Passport from other District in Nepal – Then fill necessary information based on your nearest Passports Department.
C) If you need an E Passport from another Country or abroad – Then the following points are helpful for you.
- Appointment Country – Other
- Appointment Location – Choose the nearest enrollment center (read notice below)
- Select a Date and Time as your choice (In some country selected time may not available-which means you will visit the appointment location in official time).
- Fill the character from the picture.
- After you fill all necessary information then select Next.

E Passport From Another Country Or Abroad
This service may not be available in some country in running time, which means either you wait for next session or apply from Nepal.
Step 07–E Passport Application Form
You will find 4 section of application forms.

- Applicant’s Contact Details
- Contact Details In Case Of Emergency

Step 08–Attach Your Original File/Documents
Attach your Citizenship Certificate Front and Citizenship Certificate Back in image format (JPEG or PNG format are supported).
Other documents-like-Academic Certificate, Divorce Certificate, Marriage Registration, National eID and other additional documents may be needed only based on your visa type, purpose of travel and family relation.

Step 09–Check Application Summary
Recheck your personal information and make corrections if there are any mistakes before submitting the final form.
Step 10–Download-Print And Save Your E Passport Application Form
Download, print and save (take a screenshot) after you successfully submit your online application form.
Reference number will be needed to check your e passport application status.


Info 03:–E Passport Payment
Make a payment for the e passport after you successfully fill out the online form. For this you have to visit the nearest Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) or Nepal Bank Limited.
If you are making an e passport from Nepal, then it’s better if you make a physical payment (rather than an online payment) at the nearest Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) in your District Administration Office (DAO).
During payment, fill out the payment form carefully (ask the bank help desk or receptionist if you have any doubt). Take a digital photo or photocopy of your payment slip which may be helpful for you if you lost it.

Info 04:–Visit Your Appointment Location Or District Administration Office
After you done all of the 3 info as above, then visit the nearest appointment location or District Administration Office with copy of e passport application form and payment slip (original payment slip).
Advice For E Passport Enrollment
Make a clear and normal haircut or style, clean your hands, eyes and face properly and wear a normal dress if possible because in the passport department or District Administration Office your digital identity or biometrics need to be recorded.
Eye iris scanning, 10 fingerprints, Digital signature, Natural photo (The authorized person will take your passport size photo in real time).
Submit your personal and active phone number (you can also use your trusted relative or friend phone number) to the passport department (authorized person) if they ask because you will get the message of e passport enrollment after your document is successfully submitted.
Within 15 to 30 days, the Passport Department will send a message to your registered or submitted phone number to collect your physical passport. Carry your original citizenship (or a copy if you don’t have it) when you are visiting the nearest passport department or DOA.
