Work Details – Enumerator And Supervisor
Enumerator (Gadak)
An enumerator is a front-line person deployed in data collection work, who goes directly to the field to collect information. They are the first and most important source of accurate data.
Main Duties Of An Enumerator
- Visit all individual details, employment, living standards, industries, trade, businesses and organizations in the assigned area and collect data.
- Fill in individual details, type of business, investment, employment, production and service details through a tablet or paper questionnaire.
- Conduct interviews with the relevant person and collect accurate and truthful data.
- Maintain confidentiality of the collected information and not share it with anyone.
- Report the daily progress of work done to the supervisor.
- Submit the filled forms or data to the office in a secure manner.
Supervisor
A supervisor is the leader and quality controller of the data collection process. Their responsibility is one level above that of enumerators.
Main Duties Of A Supervisor
- Identify work areas for subordinate enumerators and deploy them.
- Check the forms filled by enumerators for errors and have errors corrected.
- Help resolve problems that arise in the field.
- Coordinate with local governments and other agencies to facilitate the census work.
- Ensure the information collected by enumerators is correct and forward it to the higher authority.
- Prepare and submit progress reports of the census.
Key Difference Between Enumerator And Supervisor
The enumerator is the foundation of data collection, while the supervisor is the strong structure built on top of that foundation. The enumerator goes directly to the field to collect data – the supervisor ensures the quality of that data. The work of one is incomplete without the other.
